2016 Wedding Trends We Love [Southern Ontario Wedding Photographer][C&E Collective]

Hello friends!

I love checking out blogs and websites to see what wedding trends will inspire brides in the coming year so I’ve decided to share with you my top 10 fav trends for 2016!

1. CAKE ALTERNATIVES
Out with the old, in with the donuts.  There are so many amazing alternative ideas regarding the traditional wedding cake option.  Couples are now opting for something different to satisfy their sweet tooth. Check out this amazing pancake cake, it couldn’t be more adorable.

2. OUTDOOR RECEPTIONS
We all know that outdoor ceremonies are beautiful, so why not continue the trend with an outdoor reception.  These are increasing in popularity, even in places like Ontario where the weather can be unpredictable. This wedding I second shot was all outside…in October…in Ontario…and guess what, everyone loved it!

3. BRIGHT POPS OF COLOUR
Don’t get me wrong, neutral colours are my jam, but adding just a touch of bright to your wedding day is gorgeous.  Bright colours stand out and are bold! Here are 35 ways to add colour to your wedding ranging from just a touch to all out rainbow.

4. WOODEN DETAILS
Wood details are a wonderful way to bring natural elements into your wedding day.  Wood is so versatile it can be made to look modern, rustic and everything in between.

5. LOOSE BRIDAL BOUQUETS.
Flowers are the best way to add instant romance to your wedding.  I’m not sure flowers at a wedding will ever go out of style and I really hope it doesn’t.  They are easily one of the most photographed details of a wedding and add a layer of luxury to any event. Check out this new trend of large, loose bouquets – it’s something to swoon over.

6. BOHEMIAN INSPIRED DRESSES
I love hippie fashion.  It’s effortless, chic, dreamy, romantic…I could go on for days.  This dress is crazy beautiful and super affordable, win-win.  One of my other favourite trends is the illusion neckline which can be both boho and classic.  This dress combines the best of both worlds.

7. RECEPTION COMFORT FOOD
My sister got married just over a month ago and they had the best hors d’oeuvres at their cocktail hour.  I’m talking hamburger sliders, grilled cheese and spring rolls (three of my favourite food groups).  This trend is equally as adorable as it is tasty.

8. ENCHANTING TABLESCAPES
Reception décor has taken on a whole new life as it’s not just about the centrepiece anymore.  Brides are incorporating their theme into the entirety of the table including the dishware and placement cards.

9. VINTAGE ENGAGEMENT RINGS
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and vintage diamonds are no exception.  They might even be better than a best friend but don’t quote me on that. Vintage rings have so much personality and character it’s hard not to love them. This one from Etsy is an art deco stunner, while this ring has just a hint of vintage flare.

10.  INVITATION SUITES
I am an absolute sucker for stationary so wedding invitation suites speak to me on a whole other level.  They really set the tone for your wedding day.  There is nothing like some cool graphics and a sweet font to start the wedding experience off right for your guests.
